- Notes (version 0.2.5)
- For this version, I tried to fix some of the problems, address feedback from the Chilli Jam, and add new gameplay features.
- Changed controls to WASD.
- Added a new scrap system and items to be collected and used throughout the levels.
- Added a new type of enemy.
- Added one new character to be unlocked in the levels.
- Fixed the glitches in level generation (though I still feel the levels are too large right now).
- Made some UI improvements and added an options setting for volume control.
- Added loading info with flashing lights and loud noises.
- Fixed some gameplay balance issues (enemy damage and oxygen consumption).
- The next steps would probably be: creating better enemies—not just adding variety, but building a proper system so they can interact with each other and the environment; adding new characters and weapons for more variety in gameplay.
- I was thinking of publishing the code on GitHub (after some cleanup) and maybe making a "making of" on YouTube to discuss it. If that sounds interesting, let me know!
- Known Bugs
- The map is less glitchy, but things still spawn on the walls or outside the map (probably need to rethink the algorithm; suggestions are welcome!).
- Sometimes the game crashes between levels (I believe it’s a cleanup mistake, but I haven’t figured it out yet).
- Insekt enemies appear as empty sprites after death (probably a simple fix, but time is running out on the jam).
- Alien enemies are also still buggy, but I forgot to look at it on the jam period.
